I Geo-Tag the images I produce here, so am familiar with the more available technology's involved in this field.

There has also been some work done exporting GPS routes in and out of GPS receivers, though at present I have not published it, GPS mapping files for bicycle routes mostly as it is hard to read a map whilst remembering to peddle and not fall off.

I use a Nikon D200. Geo-tagging is achieved via a Garmin Gekko and stored in the file's metadata.

Web based applications such as Flickr and Google maps can interpret and map the data on file upload.

A jolly good question. I am interested to see what, if any, market is available for this sort of product.

I am not a farmer, builder or surveyor (though I have ONC qualification in Building studies so am not a complete dunce on the subject), but have been running a company for over a decade so have an understanding that sometimes the financial risk of new technology can out way the current cash flow.
